Why I Went to Thailand - And What Happened

I think it was 'rejection' which drove me to the other side of the world from where I had grown up. With two judgemental women who seemed to tag team, my mother and older sister challenged me beyond what I could integrate. I left them and those thoughts behind and travelled West all the way to the others side of the world, over the Pacific Ocean.
My colleague and fellow teacher from South Korea had agreed to accompany me to a destination unknown in the middle of the South Pacific. Mark was a great sounding board, but he wasn't ready for the deep awakenings I had in store, as his life hadn't pushed him to the brink of sanity as mine had. I needed to time to unravel my story and understand just who I was and what I wanted from my life.
I began to breath into myself again, hear my voice, and remember that I was fine. I spent days sitting on the sand, on my bungalow porch and on my soft bed. I had endured some challenging emotions and they wanted to be released. Spending hours allowing the gentle surf to lull me into peacefulness, these challenging emotions emerged and released, in tears or deep breathing. It was all good. In those moments I began to learn that deep emotions want to be released and we need to help them to do so.
Thus was the beginning of my inner transformation. I knew people needed help like I did, so I made a commitment to help the voice from within make it into others lives, carrying with it the reminder that memories were important and they needed to be heard. I began writing and journalling as my life's inner journey began to soar into heights previously unimaginable. I really could heal my feelings just by listening to them and allowing them to unfold.
After Thailand, back in Canada, I spent years as an energy healer, helping others face their inner wounds and alleviate their traumas by shining on them the light of consciousness. We have all been through a lot of trial by fire, not only in this life but in others. All of this learning can be transmuted and integrated, and indeed, it is what we must do if we are to live in integrity.
